Beatrix Potter is best known for bringing the world Peter Rabbit and writing 30 books featuring animals such as Jeremy Fisher, Jemima Puddleduck and Squirrel Nutkin.
A lesser known part of Beatrix Potter's legacy is her passion for preserving English countryside. In 1905 Potter used proceeds from her books to buy Hill Top Farm in a village in the Lake District and continued to purchase more farms in order to preserve the unique country landscape.
Following her death aged 77 Potter left all her land to the National Trust along with the original illustrations for her books. She is credited with preserving a lot of the land which now makes up the Lake District National Park.
