On this day in 1948 Ian Mcewan, author of Atonememt, Children Act and Enduring Love, was born Ian McEwan has achieved many things and is one of Britain’s best writers and even had the times named him as one of the 50 greatest writers since 1945. A claim which is strengthened by his six nominations for Man Booker Prize, winning in 1998 for Amsterdam. And even at over 70 years ago he is still living up to his reputation, releasing his new novel ‘Machines Like Us’ earlier this year. His career hasn’t just been about novels either. A total of 11, soon to be 12, of his books have been adapted for the big screen leading to huge hits including Atonement and Enduring Love. He’s turned also turned his talents to children’s fiction, screenplays and short stories.
